We have two types of solar water heaters

Evacuated tube

Flat plate
Difference between these two depends on the design and materials of construction.
Evacuated tube is constructed with concentric borosilicate glass. Vacuum is maintained in between glass and the inner glass is mirror finished.
Flat plate collectors are made up of copper so that it gets heated fast. But the cost of construction is high and heat loss is more in flat plate than Evacuated tube collector.
WORKING OF SOLAR WATER HEATER
Water to be heated enters into the collecting tanks through the inlet and water comes in contact with sunlight through the tubes. The water reaches to a temperature of 80 to 85 degree Celsius and the hot water is returned to the outlet through collecting tank
